Dr. Pradeep Chaluvally-Raghavan is an Associate Professor and holds the Linda G. and Herbert J. Buchsbaum, MD, Chair in Gynecologic Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. His research focuses on RNA biology, cancer signaling pathways, and translational mechanisms in ovarian and breast cancers. He completed his Ph.D. in Chemoprevention and Cancer Biology at the University of Calicut, India, followed by postdoctoral training at the Weizmann Institute of Sciences (Israel) and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Chemoprevention and Cancer Biology, University of Calicut, India (2006)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cancer Biology, Weizmann Institute of Sciences, Israel
- M.Sc. in Microbiology, PSG College of Arts and Science, India
His research interests include RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), membraneless organelles formation via phase separation, oncostatin signaling in cancer progression, and miRNA-mediated transcriptional regulation. He has pioneered studies on non-coding RNA aberrations in cancer, particularly their role in chemoresistance and metastasis. Recent work highlighted the role of the Oncostatin M receptor (OSMR) in ovarian cancer, demonstrating its involvement in STAT3-mediated integrin signaling and chemoresistance.
He leads the Chaluvally Lab, which investigates translational mechanisms in cancer, including projects funded by the Department of Defense and NIH. Current grants focus on RNA activation in tumor progression, RBP-mediated membraneless organelles in chemoresistance, and lineage transitions in breast cancer.
No scientific awards explicitly listed. His work has led to preclinical advancements in combination therapies (e.g., selinexor + eribulin) and biomarker discovery using extracellular vesicles.
