Polly Ayres is a Lecturer in the Department of Applied Social Sciences, Forensics and Politics at the University of Winchester. She teaches modules including Practical Skills, Crime Scene Investigation, Biological Evidence, and Forensic DNA Evidence. Her expertise spans DNA analysis, body-fluid identification, and blood pattern interpretation. With over two decades of experience, she previously served as a Senior Forensic Scientist with the Forensic Science Service, handling hundreds of DNA and body fluid cases. Her academic background includes a BSc in Ecology and Conservation (University of Sussex) and an MSc in Palaeobiology (University of Bristol). She has conducted biodiversity research at the Harrison Institute and contributed to taxonomic studies of bats and crustaceans.
Her research interests bridge forensic science and natural history, with publications focusing on Arabian mammal diversity and Paleozoic marine invertebrates. Though no recent awards are listed, her work demonstrates interdisciplinary strengths in both forensic practice and biological sciences.
