Piotr Słopecki

Piotr Słopecki is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty I – Conducting, Composition and Music Theory of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk since October 2024. He holds a Doctor of Arts degree (2005) and habilitation (2018) from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and Poznań respectively.

His research focuses on 19th-century Italian opera and Gioacchino Rossini, complemented by artistic work in classical piano and organ performance. He has expanded his academic contributions to jazz/pop music pedagogy and chamber ensemble arrangement.

Notable trends in his publications include intersections between Romantic song analysis (his 2005 dissertation) and historical horn-piano collaborations, exemplified by his 2024 article in The Horn Call on Carl Daniel Lorenz’s works.

He teaches classical piano and collaborates with the Jazz and Pop Music program at the Academy, while serving as a juror for music competitions and consultant for Warsaw’s Center for Artistic Education (since 2021).
