Pietropaolo MORRONE is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical, Energetic and Management Engineering of the University of Calabria (DIMEG). He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calabria and graduated cum laude in Mechanical Engineering. His academic roles include teaching Computational Fluid Dynamics, Energy Systems and Renewable Sources, and Low Carbon Power Plants at both undergraduate and Master's levels. He serves as President of the Didactic Committee for the XXXVIII PhD cycle and is a member of the PhD Committee for Civil and Industrial Engineering.
- Education: 5-year Master's in Mechanical Engineering (cum laude, 2001), PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2005)
- Key Collaborations: Fiat Group Automobiles, ELASIS SCpA, CNR-ITM
His research focuses on advanced energy systems, particularly Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technologies, hybrid renewable-conventional energy integration, and carbon footprint reduction. Current projects align with EU 2035 directives for internal combustion engines and marine renewable energy utilization.
Recent publications analyze biomass gasification systems, biodiesel-ORC integration, and thermal crisis prevention in solar collectors. As a reviewer for journals like Applied Thermal Engineering and Renewable Energy, he contributes to advancing energy conversion research.
He leads the Macchine Turbomacchine laboratory and participates in the Macchine a Fluido research group, focusing on fluid machinery optimization and thermal/environmental impact analysis across industrial and residential applications.
