Pietro Zamboni is an Associate Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Catania, since 2002. He teaches in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering degree courses and is a member of the Italian Mathematical Union (UMI).
- Education:
- Doctorate in Mathematics, University of Palermo (Italy) (1992)
- B.S. in Mathematics, University of Messina (Italy) (1988), 110/110 cum laude
His research centers on Real Analysis and the regularity properties of weak solutions to linear and quasilinear elliptic equations, with emphasis on degenerate and subelliptic cases. He has explored Fefferman-Phong type inequalities and their applications to PDEs.
Scientific activity includes participation in national research initiatives such as PRIN grants (1997-2008) and coordination of the University of Catania's project on "Elliptic equations with strongly singular coefficients" (2017-2019). He co-authored four textbooks with G. Di Fazio and served on the editorial board of Open Mathematics.
- Conferences & Workshops:
- "Symmetries, Geometric Structures, Evolution and Memory in PDEs" (Taormina, 2001)
- Joint UMI-AMS Meeting (Pisa, 2002)
- "Second order subelliptic equations and applications" (Cortona, 2003)
- "Advances on Variational Analysis, Optimization and Applications" (Messina, 2018)
He actively contributes to doctoral education as a member of Ph.D. faculty in Applied Mathematics and Engineering at the University of Catania (cycles XX–XXVIII).
