Maria Flavia Mammana

Maria Flavia Mammana is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Catania's Department of Mathematics and Informatics since February 2018. She teaches in both the Bachelor's and Master's Degree programs in Mathematics.

Her research focuses on:

• Foundations of Geometry and Euclidean Geometry through geometric transformations
• Mathematics Education, particularly teaching/learning geometry with technology
• Integration of Serious Games in mathematical education and Embodied Learning approaches

She leads the Teaching Center at the Accademia dei Lincei's Mathematics section in Catania and coordinates the Mat.Ita Project and the Mathematics High School initiative for Eastern Sicily. Mammana serves as the scientific coordinator for Italy in the European projects ASYMPTOTE and MaSCE3, collaborating with institutions like the University of Turin, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. She is affiliated with organizations such as UMI, AIRDM, PME, and ERME, and participates in the Italian Commission for Mathematical Instruction (CIIM).
