Pieter Bakx is an Associate Professor at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management, specializing in Health Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is affiliated with the Health Economics group and serves as a fellow at the Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging and Retirement (Netspar). His research focuses on healthcare financing and organization, particularly long-term care systems, with a focus on equity and policy design.
He teaches health economics at the master’s level and coordinates the MSc HEPL thesis program. Bakx actively supervises master’s students in their thesis work. His research interests span topics such as nursing home financing, healthcare utilization patterns, and policy reforms, with notable contributions to studies on end-of-life spending, socioeconomic disparities in treatment outcomes, and cross-national comparisons of healthcare systems.
