Pieta Eklund is a Researcher at the University of Borås, affiliated with the Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT and the Swedish School of Library and Information Science. Her work focuses on academic librarianship, professional jurisdiction dynamics, and scholarly communication systems. She has conducted extensive research on open access publishing policies, research data management, and the evolving role of librarians in supporting academic research.
Her doctoral thesis (2022) examines how academic librarians negotiate professional jurisdictions within university settings, revealing disciplinary disparities in their influence over research-related tasks. This work integrates Abbott's system of professions framework with empirical data from semi-structured interviews and organizational documents.
Eklund has collaborated on projects like the MuseIT initiative (2024), exploring inclusive cultural heritage platforms for people with disabilities. She co-authored a 2024 chapter analyzing Norway's Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) frameworks. Her earlier research includes studies on publishing patterns at the University of Borås and the application of bibliometric models for resource allocation.
