Piet Jozef Swerts is Professor at LUCA School of Arts, specializing in contemporary classical composition with particular expertise in saxophone repertoire. He is preparing the symphonic work TATTVAS — The Five Elements for saxophone quartet and orchestra, scheduled for premiere in 2026 with LUCA Philharmonic conducted by Ivan Meylemans.
His compositional research explores expanded instrumental techniques for saxophone ensembles, formal structures in multi-movement orchestral works, and cross-cultural musical elements. The upcoming project features innovative instrumentation configurations including movements for homogeneous saxophone groupings (four sopranos, four altos, four tenors) alongside traditional quartet formations.
