Piers Yates

Piers Yates is an Associate Professor of Surgery at UWA Medical School, specializing in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology. His clinical research focuses on arthroplasty outcomes, prosthetic joint infections, and orthopaedic implant performance. He leads multicenter studies examining failure mechanisms of orthopaedic devices and frailty assessment in joint replacement patients.

Current projects include the PIANOFORTE trial comparing antibiotic strategies for prosthetic infections and investigations into cephalomedullary nail failures. Dr. Yates maintains active clinical practice with research embedded in surgical outcomes assessment.
