Pierre-Louis Lions

Pierre-Louis Lions is a Professor at the Collège de France in Paris, holding the Chair of "Partial Differential Equations and Applications" since 2002. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study at City University of Hong Kong. His academic affiliations include membership in the French Academy of Sciences, Academia Europaea, and numerous other prestigious academies worldwide.

His research spans nonlinear partial differential equations with major contributions to Boltzmann equation, compressible Navier-Stokes equations, Hamilton-Jacobi equations, Hartree-Fock equation, image processing, viscosity solutions, concentration compactness, mean field games, and stochastic partial differential equations. His theoretical work has significant applications across physics, engineering, economics, and other scientific disciplines.

He remains actively engaged in academic leadership through his participation in the Scientific Council of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study and his upcoming teaching commitments at the Collège de France for 2025, where he will deliver courses on high-dimensional analysis and applied mathematics.
