Pierre-Gilles Lemarié-Rieusset is a Professor at Université d'Évry (now part of Université Paris-Saclay) and Deputy Director of Research in the Graduate School of Mathematics at Université Paris-Saclay. He conducts his research at the Évry Mathematics and Modelling research unit (LaMME – Univ. Paris-Saclay, CNRS, Univ. d'Évry, ENSIIE and INRAE).
His research journey began with wavelet theory, where he co-authored one of the first theoretical articles on this time-frequency analysis tool under the guidance of his PhD supervisor Yves Meyer. Since 1995, he has focused on Navier-Stokes equations, one of the seven millennium problems in mathematics. His work in this area has produced impressive results that continue to shape the field.
Lemarié-Rieusset has authored several influential books including 'Séries de Fourier et ondelettes' (1995), 'Recent developments in the Navier-Stokes problem' (2002), and 'The Navier-Stokes problem in the 21st century' (2016), which have become leading works in their respective fields. His writing process serves as another dimension of his research methodology, allowing him to develop personal mathematical proofs while presenting others' work.
