Pierre Fastrez

Pierre Fastrez is a Professor in Information and Communication at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), Belgium, and a Senior Research Associate of the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS). He served as a Visiting Researcher at the Queensland University of Technology's Digital Media Research Centre (DMRC) from 24–31 July 2024. His research focuses on the interplay between information and communication technologies (ICT) and cognitive processes, with a 15-year emphasis on media literacy. His work combines experimental methodologies for developing assessment tools and qualitative approaches analyzing media practices to infer competencies.

He directs the peer-reviewed journal Recherches en Communication and sits on the Higher Council for Media Education in French-speaking Belgium. His contributions bridge theoretical insights with practical applications in media education and technological impact studies.
