Pierre Engelhard is a Lecturer in Video and Visual Media at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He teaches in the BA Digital Design and Production program, specializing in real-time and interactive video installations. Prior roles include positions at Brunel Design School and the University of the Arts London. He holds a BA in Film, Media, and Journalism from the University of Stirling and an MA in Digital Direction from the Royal College of Art.
His research explores post-digital era aesthetics, merging emerging technologies with analogue practices to create embodied media experiences. Key themes include human-technology relationships, temporal perception, and hybrid performance forms. His work spans audiovisual installations, immersive films, and live performances that challenge conventional boundaries between digital and physical realms.
Pierre’s creative practice has been exhibited globally at venues including the Saatchi Gallery, IKLECTIK, and Bright Festival (Leipzig). Notable projects include VEX MACHINA (2024), examining digital identity; SYNCHRONICITY (2021), exploring sound-motion synchronization; and SONIC BEINGS (2022), an audiovisual performance blending 3D animation and live sound.
