معرفی
Pierluigi Monaco is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Trieste, with affiliations to INAF-OATs and INFN. He leads the development of the PINOCCHIO code for dark matter halo simulations.
- Research spans astrophysics, cosmology, and computational physics
- Develops fast cosmological simulation methods via Lagrangian Perturbation Theory
- Focuses on galaxy formation, dark matter dynamics, and supernova/black hole feedback
His publications emphasize high-precision cosmology, with key contributions to dark matter halo clustering algorithms, modified gravity simulations, and hierarchical structure formation modeling. The PINOCCHIO code (GNU GPL v2) enables rapid generation of cosmological halo catalogs by combining ellipsoidal collapse with 3LPT displacement fields.
Current projects include:
- PRIN-INAF 2014: High-Performance Computing for space cosmology
- PRIN-MIUR 2015 (PI S. Borgani): Galaxy formation simulations
- National Centre for HPC, Big Data, and Quantum Computing (active participant)
