Kyle Oman is an Associate Professor and Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow at Durham University's Institute for Computational Cosmology and Centre for Extragalactic Astronomy. His research focuses on galaxy formation, dark matter structure, and observational cosmology using advanced simulation techniques.
His primary research examines the dark matter content of galaxies through cosmological hydrodynamical simulations and 21-cm radio surveys. Additional interests include galaxy evolution (particularly satellite galaxies in groups/clusters), weak gravitational lensing, Galactic archaeology, and scientific data visualization. He maintains active open-source development including a tool for generating mock 21-cm observations.
Recent publication analysis reveals concentrated research in galaxy dynamics and dark matter physics, with particular emphasis on rotation curve anomalies in dwarf galaxies, quenching mechanisms in satellite systems, and baryonic effects on dark matter halos. These works consistently challenge conventional galaxy formation models.
