Pierluigi Balduzzi is a Full Professor in the Seidner Department of Finance at Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. He previously held academic positions at New York University Stern School of Business and has served in roles such as Associate Editor of the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics (2006–2017). His research focuses on empirical asset pricing, financial institutions, and household finance, with contributions to top-tier journals like the Journal of Finance and Review of Financial Studies.
Education: BA in Economics from Bocconi University (Milan) and Ph.D. in Economics from UCLA. Professional experience includes internships at the IMF, consulting for the Social Security Administration, and executive teaching at Credit Suisse-First Boston.
Research Interests: Balduzzi’s work examines economic risk premia, sovereign debt crises, and the impact of policy changes on markets. His recent studies analyze credit constraints during the COVID-19 pandemic, populism’s economic effects, and the dynamics of target-date funds.
