Pia Jakobsson is the Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies and Clinical Assistant Professor at the School of Arts & Humanities, University of Texas at Dallas. She holds a PhD in Humanities-History of Ideas (UT Dallas, 2009), MA in Humanities (UT Arlington, 2001), and BA in Literature (Stockholm University, 1999). Her research focuses on women's roles in Enlightenment-era public spheres, 17th-18th century European cultural history, and transnational intellectual networks.
Her work explores how women like Elizabeth Carter and Mercy Otis Warren navigated public discourse while balancing societal expectations. She has published widely on salonnières, revolutionary figures, and the intersections of gender with political activism.
Current roles include advising graduate studies and serving on committees such as the Veterans Advisory Council and Library Committee. She also supports initiatives like GirlUp UT Dallas.
