Phuong Nguyen is an Associate Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) within the Department of Electrical Engineering. He leads the digital Power & Energy Systems lab (digi-PES), focusing on enabling energy transition through cyber-physical ecosystems for nano/micro-grids, local energy communities, and integrated energy systems.
His research centers on applying ICT in smart energy systems, distributed state estimation, control of power systems, and computational intelligence for future energy delivery. Key themes include congestion management, uncertainty modeling, and data-driven frameworks for decentralized energy networks.
Recent publications highlight his work on stochastic optimization for local energy communities, price formation mechanisms in electricity markets, and network settings' impact on distribution systems. These studies emphasize reducing grid congestion, enhancing flexibility through bilateral contracts, and optimizing feasible operation regions.
Phuong Nguyen collaborates with institutions like Clemson University (USA) and contributes to projects funded by EIRES and the Dutch Research Council (NWO). His lab, digi-PES, serves as a platform for students and researchers to innovate in energy system integration and IoT domains.
