Phoebe Koundouri

Professor Phoebe Koundouri is a leading academic in environmental and resource economics, currently serving as Professor at the School of Economics at Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and as a part-time Research Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). She directs the Research Laboratory on Socio-Economic and Environmental Sustainability (ReSEES) and leads the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) at ATHENA Research Center. As founder of the Alliance of Excellence for Research and Innovation on Aeiphoria (AE4RIA), she coordinates over 200 researchers across 120 countries.

Her research spans climate change, sustainable development, water-energy-food nexus, and AI applications in policy design. She has authored over 400 scientific papers and 19 monographs, with recent work focusing on post-wildfire flood mitigation, blue economy transitions, and nexus modeling for climate neutrality. Her publications emphasize interdisciplinary solutions to global challenges, integrating econometrics, behavioral economics, and socio-environmental systems.
