Phillip Walmsley

Dr. Phillip Walmsley serves as Clinical Teaching Fellow and Vertical Theme Lead for Clinical Focused Informatics at the University of St Andrews School of Medicine. He is also a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at NHS Fife specializing in complex knee surgery and an Associate Post-Graduate Dean at NHS Education for Scotland. His clinical expertise includes primary/revision knee arthroplasty and prosthetic joint infection management.

Research examines knee replacement outcomes, surgical education, and antimicrobial approaches in orthopedics. Publications focus on optimizing arthroplasty performance through improved techniques and assessment methods.

Awards include the ABC Travelling Fellowship for North American research collaboration.

Supervised doctoral candidates investigate patient-reported outcome measures and novel infection diagnostic techniques.
