Phillip Tretten

Phillip Tretten serves as an Assistant Professor at Luleå University of Technology, Department of Social Sciences, Technology and Arts, specializing in the Humans and Technology division. Dr. Tretten holds a Doctor of Technology in Industrial Design (2011), Bachelor of Technology in Industrial Design (2008), Master in Psychology (2005), and BA in Psychology (1992) from Luleå University of Technology, with additional undergraduate studies at Palm Beach Atlantic University. His educational background reflects an interdisciplinary approach combining technical design with human cognitive and psychological aspects.

His research centers on maintenance risks and Human Machine Interaction (HMI), with particular emphasis on developing maintenance system guidelines that support operators and maintenance personnel in decision-making. Key research areas include tacit knowledge extraction from maintenance technicians, autonomous maintenance systems, and the integration of human intuitive cognition with intelligent systems.
