Phillip Parente is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Monash University and the Director of Cancer Services at Eastern Health Clinical School. He holds roles as Acting Director of Medical Oncology at Box Hill Hospital and a Medical Oncologist. His clinical expertise focuses on Genitourinary Cancers, Lung Cancer, and Melanoma, where he leads numerous clinical trials as Principal Investigator. He is also deeply involved in medical education, serving as Director of Undergraduate 3rd Year Teaching at Box Hill Hospital and holding leadership positions in professional bodies such as the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA).
Education & Professional Background: A/Prof Parente graduated with First Class Honours from Monash University in 1993, completed Medical Oncology training in 2001, and pursued a Fellowship in Immunology/Melanoma at the Ludwig Institute. He currently completes a Master of Human Rights Law at Melbourne University, having already earned a Master of Health and Medical Law in 2020.
Research & Professional Contributions: His research emphasizes translational oncology, with a focus on advancing treatment protocols for genitourinary malignancies and lung cancers. He has authored over 60 publications and presented at international conferences. Key projects include Phase 3 clinical trials for immunotherapies like Ipilimumab and Nivolumab. He also investigates systemic challenges in oncology care, such as workforce distribution and guideline adherence.
