Philippe Blaettchen

Dr. Philippe Blaettchen is an Assistant Professor in Management Analytics at Bayes Business School (City, University of London) and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Management Science & Operations at London Business School. His research focuses on leveraging emerging technologies to optimize supply chain networks and achieve sustainability goals. He holds a PhD from INSEAD and dual master's degrees from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Linköping University, with undergraduate training from KIT. His work bridges operations research, supply chain management, and sustainable operations.

Education: PhD in Technology & Operations Management (INSEAD, 2021); MSc in Management (INSEAD, 2018); Dual MSc in Industrial Engineering (KIT/Linköping University, 2016); BSc in Industrial Engineering (KIT, 2014).

Research interests include supply chain network design, technology adoption barriers, and optimization under uncertainty. His recent work emphasizes traceability technologies, inventory management in complex networks, and business model innovation. He has published in top journals like Management Science and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management.

Awards include the 2022 TIMES Doctoral Dissertation Award and the 2019 INSEAD Outstanding Tutor Award. He has also secured grants for research on human-AI collaboration and sustainable operations.

Teaching: Designs and teaches courses in Operations Management, Business Analytics, and Deep Learning. Supervised over 40 student projects across BSc, MSc, MBA, and Executive MBA programs. Active in curriculum development for new analytics programs at Bayes.

Labs/Teams: Leads Bayes' Operations Management seminar series and participates in the sustainability taskforce. Collaborates with researchers at Georgia Tech, INSEAD, and other institutions on supply chain network models and technology diffusion strategies.
