Philippe Aghion is a Professor at the Collège de France and INSEAD, and a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on growth economics, particularly the Schumpeterian growth paradigm, which examines the role of innovation and creative destruction in economic development. Key areas include the impact of competition, industrial policy, and environmental constraints on growth, as well as the relationship between innovation and inequality.
He co-authored influential books such as Endogenous Growth Theory (MIT Press, 1998) and The Economics of Growth (MIT Press, 2009). His work addresses global challenges like green technology transitions, financial barriers to innovation, and the effects of automation. Aghion leads a research chair comprising over twenty researchers, aiming to advance understanding of growth policies and household mobility.
