Philipp Lentner is an Assistant Professor (non-tenure, research track) at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) and Affiliated Faculty at the Vienna Graduate School of Finance (VGSF). Based at the Institute for Finance, Banking and Insurance, his research focuses on monetary policy and fixed income markets, with particular expertise in central bank operations and sovereign credit rating effects.
Lentner earned his PhD in Finance from the University of Zurich (2015-2021), where he was an affiliated PhD student at the Swiss Finance Institute under advisors Kjell Nyborg and Per Östberg. His academic journey includes an MA in Quantitative Finance and Economics from the University of St.Gallen (2012-2014) and a BSc in Business, Economics and Social Sciences from WU Vienna (2009-2012).
His research explores how central bank asset purchase programs affect bond markets, the impact of sovereign credit rating ceilings on debt issuance, and the term structure of interest rates within macroeconomic frameworks. His methodological approach combines empirical analysis with theoretical modeling using sophisticated econometric techniques to isolate causal effects in financial markets.
