Philipp Demekhin

Prof. Dr. Philipp Demekhin is a faculty member at the Institute of Physics, University of Kassel, Germany. His academic rank is Professor in the Department of Physics (FB 10). He has supervised numerous PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s students, including Daniel Haubreisser, Nico Diehl, Dmitrii Rezvan, and Eric Kutscher, with research focusing on molecular frame photoelectron angular distributions, double-core hole generation, and photoelectron circular dichroism.

Demekhin’s research interests include Theoretical Atomic and Molecular Physics, Photoionization, and Electron Dynamics, with a focus on molecular chirality, interatomic Coulombic decay (ICD), and high-order harmonic generation. He has led projects funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), such as ELCH (Extreme light for sensing and driving molecular chirality) and studies on molecular frame photoelectron angular distributions. His work often applies synchrotron radiation and laser pulses to investigate ultrafast electron processes in molecules.
