Philipp Dechow

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Philipp Dechow serves as Professor of Urban Planning and Urban Design and Dean of Studies for the Master Urban Planning program at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HFT Stuttgart), affiliated with the School of Architecture and Design. His work integrates academic leadership with professional practice in urban space development.

Dechow holds a doctorate from the University of Stuttgart focused on The Facade as an Element of Urban Space, building on prior experience at KKP architectural firm and ISA International Urban Design Studio since 2004. His research spans urban planning, urban design, and development concepts, emphasizing streets, squares, neighborhoods, and regulatory frameworks like design statutes.

He actively contributes to the Competence Center for Mobility and Transport at HFT Stuttgart while maintaining international collaborations through ISA, including projects in Korea and China developed during his visiting professorship in Seoul. His teaching directly informs practical urban interventions across multiple continents.
