Philip Wong is a Professor in the Solomon H. Snyder Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University. His work focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s and ALS, with an emphasis on molecular mechanisms and therapeutic interventions. He leads research into TDP-43’s role in RNA splicing regulation and its implications for neurodegenerative diseases.
His research spans molecular biology approaches, including transgenic and gene knockout models. Current projects include developing gene therapies, functional biomarkers, and understanding cryptic exon splicing in diseases like ALS-FTD. The lab also explores TDP-43’s contributions to Alzheimer’s pathology through novel mouse models.
Key collaborations involve the Neuroscience Training Program and Cellular and Molecular Medicine Program at Johns Hopkins. His lab trains graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in neurobiology and molecular medicine.
