Philip Shaw is a Professor at King's College London and Director of the King’s Maudsley Partnership for Children and Young People, based in the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience. He joined King’s in October 2024, bringing expertise from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the US, where he focused on ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders using longitudinal genetic and imaging data.
His research emphasizes understanding variations in ADHD and improving prevention/intervention strategies for mental health disorders in young people. He leads the Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People, aimed at becoming a global leader in child and adolescent mental health research and practice.
Notable contributions include highlighting gaps in post-2020 ADHD research affecting policy development. He has been actively involved in academic appointments and public engagement, such as the 'ADHD: Past, Present and Future' event in March 2025.
