Philip Riley

Philip Riley is a Lecturer in Oral Health at the Division of Dentistry, School of Medical Sciences, The University of Manchester. As Deputy Co-ordinating Editor for Cochrane Oral Health, he specializes in systematic reviews and meta-analysis. His research focuses on evidence synthesis, particularly preventing oral side effects of cancer treatment, such as mucositis. He teaches critical appraisal methods to dental undergraduates and has presented at international conferences.

His research interests span dental caries prevention, stress in dental students, and public health interventions. Recent work includes studies on corticosteroid use in COVID-19 patients and water fluoridation policies. He contributes to policy through evidence-based recommendations on oral health and public health initiatives.

He leads teaching programs and collaborates internationally on oral health research, emphasizing evidence-based practice.
