Philip Linsley

Professor Philip Linsley is a Professor of Accounting and Risk at the University of York's School for Business and Society, within the Accounting and Finance department. He holds a PhD from The York Management School and is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. His research focuses on risk reporting, risk management, and cultural theory applications, particularly using neo-Durkheimian frameworks to analyze organizational risk dynamics. He co-founded the European Risk Research Network (ERRN) to advance pan-European risk management research.

Key research contributions include examining risk disclosures in the Burmah Oil Company (1971–1976), analyzing the Enron scandal and financial crisis through cultural theory, and evaluating risk culture in banking. He has published extensively on topics like SROI analysis for the North York Moors National Park (2018), risk management thought leadership reports, and cross-cultural accounting studies.
