Dr. Philip Kerner is a Researcher at the University of Bremen since September 2018, affiliated with Prof. Dr. Jutta Günther's working group in the Chair of Economics of Innovation and Structural Change. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Bremen (2015) and an M.Sc. in Quantitative Economics from Kiel University (2018). His doctoral thesis (2023) focused on empirical dimensions of green technical change.
His research interests include socio-technical transitions, environmental economics, and applied econometrics. He has contributed to projects like hyBit (Hydrogen for Bremen’s Industrial Transformation), funded by BMBF. Kerner has presented at major conferences such as the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE) and the Geography of Innovation Conference. Teaching roles include Microeconomics tutorials and Statistics courses at the undergraduate level.
His work bridges macroeconomic analysis with environmental policy, emphasizing institutional and resource productivity dynamics. Grants include BMBF funding for hyBit, exploring hydrogen's role in regional industrial restructuring.
