Philip Gamaghelyan is an Associate Professor at the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies, University of San Diego. He specializes in conflict analysis, mediation, and peacebuilding in post-Soviet and Eurasian contexts. His research focuses on memory politics, ethno-centric narratives, and innovative conflict resolution practices. He co-founded the Imagine Center for Conflict Transformation and edits the Caucasus Edition journal.
Education: PhD (Conflict Analysis & Resolution, George Mason University), MA (Heller School for Social Policy, Brandeis University), BA/MA (Political Science/French, Yerevan State Linguistic University).
Research interests include structural/symbolic violence, ethnically-framed conflicts, history education reforms, and discourse analysis. He has worked in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Syria, and other conflict zones.
Publications span over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including his 2017 monograph on transformative conflict resolution designs. He has co-edited multiple volumes on Caucasus peace processes, transitional justice, and community-driven conflict transformation.
