Dr. Philip Broadbent is a Research Fellow at the MRC/CSO Social & Public Health Sciences Unit and an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow's School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing. His work focuses on public health, social determinants of health, and health inequalities. Key research areas include the impact of austerity policies, child poverty reduction strategies, and the relationship between income inequality and health outcomes. He has contributed to systematic reviews on topics like built environment features and multimorbidity, as well as analyses of the cost-of-living crisis's public health implications.
His research integrates epidemiological methods with policy analysis to address systemic health disparities. Recent studies explore causal pathways linking socioeconomic factors to health outcomes, using large-scale data such as the Health Survey for England.
