Dr. Paul McCrorie is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow's MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit within the School of Health and Wellbeing. He leads the SPACES study examining environmental influences on children's health behaviors.
His research program investigates how built and natural environments affect physical activity patterns and health outcomes in children and adolescents. Key interests include neighborhood walkability, nature exposure, GPS tracking of mobility patterns, and socioeconomic health inequalities. Methodological expertise includes accelerometry, GIS analysis, and complex intervention evaluation.
Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on nature's role in reducing mental health inequalities, neighborhood accessibility metrics, and rural-urban disparities in physical activity. Current projects include evaluating nature nursery impacts on early childhood development through quasi-experimental designs.
