معرفی
Philip Anderson is a Senior Lecturer in Air-Sea Interaction and Head of Marine Technology at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), part of the SAMS UHI Energy Innovation Team. He joined SAMS in 2012 after 27 years at the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), where he specialized in field science and instrument design. He holds a Ph.D. in stratified atmospheric boundary layers from 1994.
His research focuses on the Stable Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL), coherent structures in polar atmospheres, and the application of remotely piloted aircraft (UAVs) for environmental sampling. He leads projects on flux buoys and glider-deployed drifters to enhance marine research capabilities, particularly in polar regions.
Recent publications highlight advancements in Arctic microalgae photosynthesis, ocean-light instrumentation, and climate modeling. His work addresses critical gaps in understanding sea-ice dynamics and climate feedback mechanisms.
Anderson has received the Polar Medal 1996 and is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society. He actively collaborates with institutions like Southampton University and participates in international initiatives like GEWEX to improve global climate models.
