Phil Ring serves as a Teacher of Applied Music (Guitar) in the Department of Music at Washington University in St. Louis, actively teaching and performing since 2005 across St. Louis and the United States.
Education: Ring earned both his Bachelor of Music (B.M.) and Master of Music (M.M.) in Jazz Performance from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Performance and Teaching Focus: Described as a “musical chameleon,” he excels in jazz, R&B, funk, rock, metal, and americana. His pedagogy emphasizes technical fundamentals while nurturing individual creative expression in guitar, bass, and general music instruction.
