Dr. Phil Price is a Senior Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning Science and Biomechanics at St Mary's University, where he has taught for over 14 years. He holds a BSc in Sport Science, an MSc in Strength and Conditioning, and a PhD in Bioengineering (2018). His research focuses on musculoskeletal modeling of the knee, concurrent strength-endurance training, and exercise countermeasures for astronauts in microgravity. He is part of the HIFIm research team and actively supervises PhD students in human performance optimization.
Key affiliations include membership in the University-level ethics board and involvement with research ethics and the philosophy of science. His podcast, The Progress Theory, explores hybrid training and human performance optimization with scientists, athletes, and coaches. He consults for Omnia Performance and is authoring a book based on podcast insights.
Research interests span biomechanics, rehabilitation, and microgravity exercise protocols. Notable collaborations include work on ballet injury epidemiology, weightlifter performance metrics, and astronaut training. Two current PhD students are Adam Mattiussi (2023) and Niall MacSweeney (2025).
Publications emphasize injury risk assessment, musculoskeletal modeling, and training efficacy. Media engagements highlight his role as a thought leader in hybrid training and athlete performance science.
