Dr Phatsimo Mabophiwa is a Lecturer in Criminology at Swansea University since 2016, serving as Programme Director for the undergraduate Criminology Studies Programme. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and focuses on children's rights, youth justice, and participatory research methods. Her work centers empirical engagement with children's participation in justice systems. Currently, she sits on the Swansea University Council, Senate, and is a member of the Innovative Youth Justice Group and Children's Human Rights Observatory.
Her research investigates youth justice frameworks, childhood trauma assessment tools, and music-based interventions for young people. She teaches modules like ASC303 (Critical Challenges in Justice for Children), exploring youth justice systems in Wales and England. Collaborations include co-authorship on studies like Project Evolve and contributions to public criminology education.
