Ulrich Pfisterer is a Full Professor of Early Modern European Art History at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München since 2008. His research focuses on art historiography, early modern European art, and global exchanges in art. He has held prestigious fellowships including the Ailsa Mellon Bruce Fellowship (2013) and the LMU excellent Research Professorship (2010-2012).
His academic career includes roles as Professor for Art in Italy (2006-2008) and Juniorprofessor at the University of Hamburg (2002-2006). He has published extensively on Renaissance art theory, medallic art, and cross-cultural visual exchanges. Key works include Kunst-Geburten (2014) and Die Sixtinische Kapelle (2013).
Pfisterer's honors include the Hanno-und-Ilse-Hahn-Preis (2003) and multiple fellowships at institutions like the Bibliotheca Hertziana (Max-Planck-Institute) in Rome. He has curated major exhibitions such as Wettstreit in Erz (2013) and contributed to landmark reference works like the Metzler Lexikon Kunstwissenschaft.
