Dr. Petteri Eerola is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Jyväskylä and Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. His research spans fatherhood, gender roles, family policy, and qualitative methodologies. He leads the Kone Foundation-funded project The Parental Night Shift: Gendered Inequalities in Night-time Care (2022–2027) and contributes to edited volumes like Caring Fathers in the Global Context (2025) and Families with Children in a Turbulent Era (2025).

His research examines institutional family discourses, paternal parental leave barriers, and gendered inequalities in night-time childcare. Dr. Eerola’s scientific awards include the Young Scientist Prize 2014 by the European Society on Family Relations. He holds leadership roles in the Finnish Society for Research on Families and Personal Relationships and serves as vice board member for the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare.
