Petter Ahlström

Petter Ahlström is a Senior Lecturer at University West, employed at the Department of Business Administration within the Department of Economics and IT. He holds a Master of Science in Surveying Technology from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), a Licentiate of Economics, and a PhD in Economics from Linköping University, specializing in Economic Information Systems. His research focuses on housing solutions for the elderly, intersecting social sciences, spatial planning, construction management, and real estate economics.

Research interests include the built environment's impact on strategic decision-making, organizational forms, financing solutions, and housing concepts for seniors. He has explored topics such as 'Age Optimization,' emphasizing health and well-being in elderly housing, and sustainability in urban development. Petter actively contributes to academia through roles like Programme Council Chair for Land Surveying Programmes and membership in the Department Board at University West. He also evaluates real estate programs at Lund University and participates in Mälardalen University's Center for Welfare Change.

Outside academia, he founded CLA, a consultancy firm focusing on senior housing concepts (ConceptLiving), and co-edited the anthology Good Housing for Seniors (2023) through SeniorVärlden. His mission is to create diverse, sustainable housing solutions to address demographic challenges, informed by international best practices.
