Petru Andrei

Petru Andrei is a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. He joined the institution in Fall 2004 after earning his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park (2004), and earlier degrees in Physics from Al. I. Cuza University, Romania (M.S. 1999; B.S. 1997). His research focuses on modeling and simulation of nanoscale and power semiconductor devices, energy storage systems (e.g., batteries, fuel cells), magnetic materials, and computational electromagnetics. Specific interests include battery optimization (Li-air, Li-ion, Zn-ion), hysteresis in magnetic systems, and noise analysis in electronic devices.

Dr. Andrei is actively involved in professional service roles, including serving as Treasurer, International Adviser Board member, and Program Committee member for conferences like INTERMAG and MMM. He also contributes to academic pedagogy through initiatives like Experiment-Centric Pedagogy in engineering education and has authored/co-authored numerous publications on topics ranging from battery technologies to semiconductor device optimization.
