Petra Persson is an Associate Professor of Economics at Stanford University's Department of Economics, with additional affiliations as a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research, Faculty Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research and Stanford Center for International Development, and Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. Her research examines social insurance systems, family economics, and the intersection between government policies and intra-family dynamics.
Research Interests: Persson's work focuses on labor economics, health economics, and family structure. She investigates how policy interventions affect household decision-making, with emphasis on gender dynamics, health outcomes, and economic inequality. Recent projects analyze menopause-related earnings penalties, infertility costs, paternal leave policies, and health disparities in maternal care.
