Petra Nocker is a Researcher at the Institute for Music and Musicology within the Faculty of Cultural Studies & Aesthetic Communication at the University of Hildesheim. Since 2023, she has been working primarily as a research assistant for the practical phase of teaching in music (GHR 300), focusing on bridging theoretical knowledge with classroom application.
Her professional background combines formal academic training with extensive practical experience:
- Studied social pedagogy and social work at Hildesheim-Holzminden University of Applied Sciences
- Teacher at GHS Burgschule Peine since 2009 (grades 1-10)
- Specialist teacher for music (singing/recorder) and religion
- Holding a university teaching position for classroom music since 2015
Ms. Nocker's research interests reflect her dual expertise in education and performance, with emphasis on practical music teaching methodologies and classroom implementation. Her work connects academic theory with real-world classroom challenges, particularly in primary and secondary music education settings.
As an active performing musician since 1988, she contributes significantly to the cultural landscape through her participation in the 'MUSIC in the CHURCH' series with the Fux Ensemble Hildesheim and the 'Literature and Music' series in Marienrode since 1999. She regularly organizes concerts in the Peine area in collaboration with blues musicians Günter Szemkus and Martin Kühn.
Her teaching philosophy appears deeply rooted in practical application, informed by her extensive classroom experience across educational levels and her ongoing performance career that spans over three decades.
