معرفی
Prof. Petra Knaus is a Full Professor of Biochemistry - Signal Transduction at the Freie Universität Berlin. She leads the Knaus Group, focusing on BMP signaling mechanisms in tissue homeostasis and diseases like cancer and pulmonary hypertension. Her work integrates molecular, cellular, and biomechanical approaches to understand signaling specificity and therapeutic applications.
Education & Career: Received her PhD in Molecular Biology (1991) from the Center for Molecular Biology (ZMBH) in Heidelberg. Postdoctoral training at MIT (Whitehead Institute, 1996). Established her lab at the University of Würzburg before joining Freie Universität Berlin in 2004.
Research Interests: Unraveling BMP receptor biology, subcellular signaling compartmentalization, and disease mechanisms in PAH and FOP. Explores biomechanical influences on BMP signaling and translational applications in regenerative medicine.
Labs & Collaborations: Knaus Lab at the Institute for Chemistry and Biochemistry. Collaborations include the Charité Berlin and institutions in Dresden and Chicago. Notable recognition: First lab at Freie Universität to achieve Green Level Certification by My Green Lab (2024).
