Petra Dannecker

Prof. Petra Dannecker is a University Professor and Vice Dean for Teaching at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Social Sciences, leading the Institute for International Development. Her work focuses on development sociology, globalization, migration, and gender studies. She holds a PhD from Bielefeld University and has conducted extensive field research in Asia, including Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Southeast Asia. Dannecker is a project leader for initiatives like the Erasmus+ KNOTS project and co-edited key texts such as Qualitative Methoden der Entwicklungsforschung. Her research explores transnational migration, Islamization processes, and the intersection of gender with development policies.
