Petr Stehlík is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Slavic Studies at Masaryk University's Faculty of Arts in Brno, Czech Republic. He holds a Ph.D. in General History (2012), a Master's in Croatian and English Language and Literature (2005), and a Bachelor's in Macedonian Language and Literature (2005) from Masaryk University. Since 2012, he has held his current academic position, with previous roles including research collaboration at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
His research examines national identity formation in Southeastern Europe, with focus areas including:
- Position of Bosnia in Croatian/Serbian discourses
- History of Yugoslavism and South Slavic thought
- Czech-Yugoslav relations
- South Slavic literatures
- Post-Yugoslav Macedonian national issues
Stehlík's publications exhibit strong thematic consistency around Balkan national ideologies, Yugoslav identity, and Slavic literary classification. Recent works (2024-2025) demonstrate evolving interest in transnational literary concepts and post-conflict cultural narratives. His scholarship combines historical analysis with contemporary cultural criticism.
