Roman Madecki's research spans multiple areas within Slavic studies, with a particular focus on the intersection of language, culture, and history. His work in contemporary Polish language examines linguistic structures, discourse patterns, and the evolution of the language in modern contexts. In comparative Slavic linguistics, he conducts contrastive analyses between Czech and Polish, exploring shared features and distinctive characteristics. His research in text and discourse theory investigates how language functions in various communicative contexts, while his work in translation and interpretation theory addresses challenges in cross-linguistic communication.
Madecki's recent scholarship demonstrates a deep engagement with the institutional history of polonistics in Czech academic settings. His numerous contributions to the comprehensive monograph 'Česká (a slovenská) univerzitní polonistika do roku 1939' reveal meticulous documentation of the development of Polish studies in Czech universities. His work often bridges linguistic analysis with cultural and historical perspectives, reflecting a holistic approach to Slavic studies that encompasses language, literature, and cultural identity in Central Europe.
